On August 14, 2018, twelve groups came together to share the work they had been doing to improve the mental health and wellbeing of refugee and migrant background communities across Victoria. These community, health and not for profit groups had received funding under a Department of Health and Human Services small grants program, which was administered in partnership by VMIAC and Tandem.
Each group shared their successes, challenges and vision in working towards a more inclusive and culturally responsive way of responding to the mental health needs of these diverse communities.
More than 130 people attended this forum, which provided a great opportunity for learning, networking and future collaboration.
Highlights included panel discussions, informative presentations and performances by Ava Iranian women’s choir and the Chinese Health Foundation of Australia’s choir.
