Our connection and support service has a number of events coming up aimed at supporting those with a lived experience of mental and/or emotional distress. These events include Group Peer Support and visualisation and movement sessions via Wayapa Wuurrk. Register below.
Registrations are open for our final CHECK-IN events of 2020. Starting tomorrow, we will be running a number of programs such as group peer support and visualisation and movement sessions via Wayapa Wuurrk to help those with a lived experience of mental illness and emotional distress.
CHECK-IN Group Peer Support
Drawing on strengths-based approaches, Group Peer Support provides tools and strategies to help you manage distress, increase your ability to cope, and build resilience and connection. Group Peer Support is a 4 week program designed to offer you strategies for cultivating personal and collective resilience during the unique challenges of the pandemic and lockdown, along with tools to take with you into everyday life. Group Peer Support is facilitated by CHECK-IN Peer Support workers, who both have lived experience of mental/emotional distress.

CHECK-IN Group Wellbeing Wayapa Wuurrk
Wayapa Wuurrk means Connect to the Earth in the language of the Maara & GunaiKurnai Peoples. Drawing from wisdoms that kept Aboriginal people happy and healthy for thousands of years on this continent, this program enables the transmission of intergenerational wellbeing to help you intentionally refine your systems of knowing, being and doing in a simple yet powerful alignment to the unique essence of you. This program is facilitated by Alana Marsh, who shares Wayapa programs with people in Australia and overseas, and is supported by CHECK-IN Peer Support workers.

CHECK-IN Group Wellbeing Yoga for Stress and Resilience
Drawing from yoga and mindfulness practices, plus neuroscience research, this program provides tools and practices to help you manage stress and build resilience. Yoga for Stress and Resilience is facilitated by Mei Lai Swan, an experienced social worker, yoga facilitator and trainer who specialises in trauma-informed and community-based practice. Mei Lai Swan is the director of Yoga for Humankind, a social enterprise yoga training school specialising in trauma-informed and community yoga. Yoga for Stress and Resilience is supported by Check In Peer workers.

CHECK-IN Group Wellbeing Mindfulness Meditation
Drawing on mindfulness practices, the Mindfulness Meditation program provides tools and practices to help build resilience, by bringing your attention into the present moment without judgement. Mindfulness Meditation focuses on tools to regulate our emotions, help manage stress and and cultivate our mental health. Mindfulness Meditation is facilitated by Coco Nkrumah, who is a secular mindfulness educator whose main passion is sharing the practice of mindfulness. Coco Nkrumah is the director of Reality Based Mindfulness. Mindfulness Meditation is supported by CHECK-IN Peer workers.
