CHECK-IN Farewell and Celebration Event

VMIAC is hosting an online Zoom event to farewell the CHECK-IN program on Monday May 29 2023, 10:30am-12:30pm.

About this event

  • 10.30am-12.00pm: the event will be for community members who have participated in the program.
  • 12.00-12.30pm: members and supporters (such as the COM, VMIAC employees and partners) will join.


Since mid 2020, the CHECK-IN program has provided online peer support for consumers whose mental health suffered as Victorians lived with lockdowns during the early years of the COVID-19 pandemic. With restrictions easing, VMIAC was grateful for an additional year of funding so CHECK-IN could respond to ongoing challenges consumers were experiencing, whilst simultaneously moving to ensure our activities focused on sustaining and growing a community of self-advocates.

As we learn to live with COVID-19, the State Government funding for CHECK-IN has ended. Therefore, VMIAC is saddened to announce the CHECK-IN program will end on Friday June 30, 2023.

CHECK-IN has positively impacted the lives of consumers. The program has built community, influenced the mental health sector and shifted VMIAC’s ways of working. We will share the evaluation of the program in a few months to show the power of peer models in supporting good mental health and advocacy with consumers.
