At VMIAC we have been engaged in a number of discussions and working groups about the implementation of the first of the Royal Commission’s recommendations. You may be aware that we ran a series of consultations about the recommendations over the past six months and you can find the report on these on our website. This report, along with a video based on the findings, has been sent to the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System, the Minister and to Mental Health Reform Victoria (MHRV).
As the more detailed discussions about the implementation have progressed, we have become concerned about the need to strongly consider how hospitals and other services are interpreting the recommendations. Our worry is that we will see more of the same if we don’t take some initiative and present other options.
Therefore, we want to provide to do a deeper exploration into the detail of these topics from a consumer perspective.
