We have written our Policy Position Paper on Sexual Safety in Psychiatric Inpatient Units, with the purpose to ensure the sexual safety of all people on acute mental health inpatient wards.
But why is it necessary?
“Mental health inpatient units have alarmingly high rates of sexual violence as compared with other health services. While most sexual safety breaches are perpetrated by men, women are also reported to be involved in a smaller percentage of breaches.”
