RESEARCH

People with lived experience of mental health challenges must be at the centre of mental health research planning, conduct, and program evaluation. VMIAC’s lived experience and consumer-led research framework challenges traditional research paradigms and values lived experience leadership across research and evaluation processes.

We are committed to building the research and evaluation capacity of people with lived experience and increasing awareness of lived experience among non-consumer researchers and program evaluators.

If you are a person of lived experience of mental health issues, trauma or distress and have a research proposal that you would like VMIAC to support or promote please contact us by emailing information on your idea to: research@vmiac.org.au

Our research team will get back to you with some important questions about your proposal to find out the steps you have taken to include other Lived Experience voices and priorities and how these are supported by your academic institution.

If you are an academic institution with an idea about a research proposal, we are happy to talk with you about supporting consumer involvement and whether/or how we may be able to support your project once you send information to us. Please also email research@vmiac.org.au and we will be in touch with questions to find out crucial information about your project to ensure it holds fidelity to consumer principles.
