Royal Commission – Update – Peer Support Workshops

The Royal Commission into Mental Health is taking submissions until 5 July. This is an important opportunity to speak up about the issues that matter most to YOU.

What’s a submission? A submission is just a way to tell them what matters to you.

You can read about submissions and make an online submission, on the Royal Commission website here.

VMIAC got some funding to provide peer support to help consumers to make submissions. You don’t have to access our support to make a submission – you can do it on your own if you prefer. But if you need a hand, we’ll be here for you.

Peer support workshops to make a submission

Some consumers have told us making a submission can be hard because:

  • It means having to remember painful, emotional memories
  • The process is complicated

 Workshops will:

  • Talk things over in a supportive environment, with people who’ve been there too
  • Support you to work out what you want to say
  • Choose the best process for you
  • Share helpful tip sheets and ideas

The best thing about the workshops is that you don’t have to do it alone (and they’re free).

Workshops will be held in these suburbs and towns across Victoria, between 12 June and 4 July 2019.
