Sanctuary art workshop this Saturday

Sanctuary is a yearly mental health month event for all people with lived/living experience of diverse mental health and the mental health system. Caring friends also welcome.

Sanctuary 2020 is an online extravaganza of interactive arts workshops based around nature. They usually meet in a beautiful park beside the Yarra so this year, they’re asking you to bring local nature into your home.

When: Saturday 24 October 
Time: 2pm – 7pm
Where: Zoom

Workshops – book one, two or book all. Sessions go for 45 mins.

Bird Spotting with Birds Australia 1:00PM. Learn how to identify and record birds in your local parks and gardens. Join the annual ‘bird count’.

Nature Journaling/botanical art with Felicity Gordon 2:00PM. Felicity is a master artist and will show you how to document all the wonderful little treasures found on your journeys through nature. Bring along found natural objects to draw with Felicity’s guidance.

Poetry Writing with Sandy Jeffs 3:00PM. A fantastic opportunity to learn writing and performance directly from our country’s most well known and loved author, speaker and mental health advocate.

Hand Cream with Dame Helen 4:00PM. Learn hands-on how to make lucious hand cream using materials found in your pantry and growing in nature.

Hey Pesto with Home Chef Tom 5:00PM. Do you pesto like you could? Tom is a gun home cook and will take you step-by-step through the art of making this delicious jar of yum and answer your home cooking Q&A’s.

Paws and Awws 6:00PM. Everyone needs to be prescribed a dose of adorable cats and dogs, stat! Do you have a beloved pet? Make them a star in their own lounge room and let us idolise them with all our awwww. No pet necessary to share in this session.

Virtual open stage 7:00PM.Can you perform a 3 minute act over the internet? This is the perfect space to give it a go. All performance arts welcome – music, theatre, spoken word, comedy, movement (PG only please). Make us laugh, make us cry, make us think.
