Your Rights When Being Apprehended Under the Mental Health Act

VMIAC advocate for accountable interactions between people experiencing mental health crisis and the police.

As part of our commitment to support consumers in knowing their rights within the mental health system we have developed this resource to bring awareness of the rights of people being apprehended who are in high distress or experiencing a mental health crisis.

This resource is a supplemental piece to our wider Just Saying resources, about your rights within the mental health system.
