VMIAC recently put in a submission to the Joint Standing Committee Inquiry into the NDIS. This submission focuses on issues we identified during the course of delivering of our consumer led NDIS Appeals and Reviews Support Service. In this submission we raise concerns about experiences of systemic and individual discrimination among NDIS participants with psychosocial disability.
VMIAC recommend greater transparency, consistency, and accountability from NDIA systems, its decision makers and representatives. We believe current internal review processes compromise key principles and cornerstones of the Scheme, and that advocacy for external reviews is oversubscribed and underfunded. VMIAC also advocate that the NDIA treat participants as whole people and provide more trauma-informed services. To view our submission click here
