Consultation
VMIAC is conducting a consultation with people who have lived experience of being placed on an assessment order, or treatment order, under the Mental Health Act 2014.
The consultation will take place via Zoom at 11:00am-1:00pm on Friday May 26, 2023. Participants will be reimbursed for their time with a $50 gift card.
This consultation will inform our submission to the Independent Review into Compulsory treatment criteria and Alignment with Decision-making laws.
The consultation will cover:
- the assessment and treatment criteria
- the purpose of compulsory assessment and treatment
- the role of capacity in compulsory treatment
- community treatment orders.
Places are limited, so if you have relevant lived experience of compulsory assessment or treatment and are interested in participating, please register your details with us as soon as possible.
To register your interest, or ask any questions, please email alycia.okeefe@vmiac.org.au with your name, contact details and availability as soon as possible.
Survey
A survey on decision-making and compulsory treatment under mental health laws is also now available to complete. It is a part of our consultations on the paper from the Independent Review Panel and will help to inform our submission to the Independent Review into Compulsory treatment.
The survey is open now and closes Friday May 26, 2023 at COB.
