VMIAC Membership Meeting

Our next online membership meeting on Thursday 30 May will focus on what the Victorian budget means for mental health consumers. It will discuss what budget means for consumers and recommendations from the Royal Commission.

VMIAC has identified three priority areas that will be the focus of the meeting:

  • Priority funding for the establishment of ‘Our Agency’, as recommended by the Royal Commission, to ensure meaningful consumer engagement and leadership in the mental health system.
  • The LLEW should be further supported and funded, with a focus on recruiting workers from priority populations and expanding their roles and disciplines to strengthen the consumer-focused and equitable nature of the mental health system.
  • Funding for foundational supports for people with psychosocial disability should be increased, with a particular emphasis on community-led supports, training and upskilling of staff, and building sector awareness to improve referral and connection pathways between health services and foundational support services.

The event will kick off with a presentation on budget priorities for building a consumer centered mental health system followed by a Q&A session.
